1. Eliminate Grit Through Daily Cleaning
The most common cause of a dull hardwood floor is microscopic grit (dirt, sand, and dust) that acts like sandpaper underfoot.
- Frequent Sweeping: Sweep or vacuum high-traffic areas (hallways, kitchens, entryways) daily or every other day. This removes the abrasive particles that grind away the finish.
- Use the Right Tools: Always use a soft-bristle broom or a vacuum cleaner with a hard floor setting (ensuring the rotating brushroll is turned off). A microfiber dust mop is highly effective for capturing fine dust without scratching the surface.
